Douglas George MILES was born on 6th July 1920 (New Forest Q3-1920 2B:1420), son of ? and Lottie Yvonne MILES (née MARSH). His mother married Herbert W GOODCHILD in 1924 in Salisbury (Herbert died in 1940).

Yvonne L Marsh married George MYLES in 1912 (Salisbury 5A:449) but the death of George has not been identified

In the 1939 register, at 24 King George Avenue, Exning were his stepfather Herbert GOODCHILD [17-5-1884] a groom in racing stables; his mother Lottie Y [7-9-1893] and half brother Dennis H GOODCHILD [10-5-1929]. There are 3 closed records.
His will gave his address as 24 King George VI Avenue, Exning, having left his estate to Lottie Yvonne Goodchild, widow, who is named on his Japanese PoW card as his mother.






Died of dysentry at Tasao, Thailand as a prisoner of the Japanese. Originally buried at Tasao No 2 cemetery, he was re-interred in Kanchanaburi in March 1946
